To join our leadership team or to be a young leader for D of E (14 – 18 year old’s) please use the contact us form, we will need parent/ guardian to do this.
Youth Joining Process
Once added to the waiting list you are automatically added to the relevant section and if on for a while it will move to the relevant section.
We do joining in January, April and September only (barring someone leaving mid term)
We prioritise those in SK8 3 and M22 5 postcodes as it’s local to us and there are other groups in the area.
We will email you to ask would you still like to accept the place, please reply promptly.
Joining is done on availaibility of places in the section, their current age (e.g. we aim for minimum of a year in a section) also we have to manage our group and section size so certain age ranges based on forward projections so we don’t have 30 in one term then 12 in the next for instance. If you have two or more children we can’t give any preference to give both a place, likewise if they are twins/ triplets if there aren’t enough places available.
You will then be a member of the group!

We will then arrange to meet and see what volunteering best fits for you
We will then take some contact details and add you to our membership system
You will then be required to obtain two references (please sort these in advance as it makes it faster)
You will then be required to complete a satisfactorily Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Check (formerly CRB check)
We will then hold a welcome conversation to explain the role, training and our safety and safeguarding policies and procedures
Then it’s up to you what and where you will go in Scouts!
